My In-Flight Essentials…

in-flight essentials

I cannot believe we go away in a couple of weeks time – excited does not even cut it! We are heading to Zante in Greece, and I have been counting down the days ever since we booked!

I’m always super prepared when it comes to going away, and I actually started buying toiletries and other essentials before we’d even officially booked. Fortunately for us, the weight allowance is twenty kilograms, rather than the standard fifteen, which means that I can take just about my entire summer-wardrobe away with me – hallelujah! I thought I would do a little run-down of my in-flight essentials, as a checklist for myself and hopefully some inspiration for your next trip..

My hand luggage, normally a backpack or large handbag, is always packed, and repacked, and repacked once again just to be on the safe side, at least a week in advance… It’s important to ensure that nothing is forgotten, and that we have everything we may need for the flight!

Travel Documents…

While this may sound like an absolute no-brainer, horror stories of  people who have got to the airport and forgot their passport worry me half to death! This is my first holiday without my mother, who’s normally in control of all the important information, and so, a travel wallet –  big enough for both our passports, money, our insurance document, tickets, EHIC cards – seemed like an essential..

Phone, Charger and Headphones…

Again, another no-brainer! I love listening to music on the plane, just to drown out the noise of the plane itself, and ensuring that it has enough battery to keep in contact with worried parents is just as important!

A Good Book…

Or, in my case, three good books and a magazine or two… I have such a short attention span, and get so restless on flights! I always ensure that I have a choice of books, just in case one doesn’t appeal to me at that specific time, and I always get through three or four on the beach anyway! I’m super excited to take away No Filter by Grace Victory, who I absolutely adore, as well as The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas and Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index by Julie Isreal…

Neck Pillow…

After feeling super uncomfortable on my flight earlier this year, I decided it was time to invest in a neck pillow! I absolutely hate the ones filled with little, polystyrene balls – I cannot stand the sound they make when they move – and eventually found the most perfect, memory foam neck pillow in Primark!

Make Up, Wet Wipes and Contact Lens Kit…

I always carry all of my make-up with me when I travel – thoughts of smashed-foundation bottles smothering my entire holiday wardrobe is enough to send chills down my spine – I simply don’t want to take that risk! Wet wipes, simply because spillages in a confined space do not mix well… Lastly, anyone that flies while wearing contacts knows just how dry and irritated your eyes can become while flying, especially if you want to sleep on the plane! I take my contacts out after boarding, and pop them back in before we land, which leaves my eyes feeling fresh instead!

Go-Pro…

I always carry my camera in my hand luggage, not only because it might get lost or broken, but also because it’s always fun to take some videos in the airport itself!

I always end up buying a drink, gum, and some snacks in the airport for the flight – that normally cost more than a three course meal – which get thrown into my bag! Is there anything that you consider in-flight essentials?!
