I feel like one of those annoying mothers of new-born children that insist on telling you how old their child is, specifically in months and days, but I can’t believe that my ‘blog baby’ is a few days shy of half a year old?! After not blogging for so many years, I had forgotten just how much I truly enjoy it and the incredible community that surrounds it is indescribable to anyone that isn’t involved! While the last six months may have flown by, I feel like I have achieved so much already, and I cannot wait to see what the next half a year holds for me and my ‘blog baby’..
In the last six months, I have ‘met’ some incredible people and fallen back in love with creating once again! I wanted to write this post as a little run-down of my stats from the past six months, both as a thank you to all those who have supported me and my blog so far, and as an opportunity to set myself some blog-based goals for the next half of the year and as a point of reflection for my future self. I am not driven by numbers at all, but I feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I realise that people actually read the content I spend so much time creating! I’ll start with my blog itself..
I went self-hosted three months ago – I received an incredible three and a half thousand views on my blog before doing so, and have since matched that on my self-hosted site, for which I am so thankful. An incredible seven hundred comments have been left across roughly thirty posts, and I have been overwhelmed by everyone’s support and I have tried to reciprocate it as much as possible! My most popular posts so far have been ‘Improving My DA‘ and ‘Five Apps You Need To Know About‘, although I personally love ‘Getting Festive – Christmas At Blenheim‘ the most, which was my first blogging event! I currently have exactly three hundred followers on WordPress, and two hundred on Bloglovin, which I am still in the process of properly getting my head around. In the next six months, I simply want to continue posting regularly, which is the only goal I plan on setting for myself for my blog – I would love to attend some more events, but for me, writing is the most exciting part of blogging!
Twitter has definitely become my favourite form of social media in the last half a year – I am constantly scrolling through my feed, and spend way too much time ignoring my boyfriend as a result! I have gained over one thousand, one hundred followers in the last six months, which is enough to almost make me cry with happiness, and I have made a ridiculous amount of friends in that time as well! In the next six months, I want to continue joining in with as many Twitter Chats as possible, keep up with the amazing Comment Pods that I am apart of, and would love to finally hit two thousand followers, although that seems a lifetime away at the moment..
As much as I used to love Instagram, I have definitely fallen out of love with it. I’ve gained about two hundred followers in the last six months, but the number fluctuates and drops at a ridiculous rate, and I don’t want to set myself any goals surrounding that – I just want continuing using it to watch other people’s stories, which I really enjoy, and post as and when I want!
I want to take this time to ‘shout out’ a few people who have made this journey so amazing, and have inspired me a ridiculous amount. Abbey is one of the most supportive, friendly, and kind people to have ever graced this planet, and her blog is just as wonderful! Jemma was one of my original inspirations when starting my blog, having read hers for a ridiculously long time, and I am still just as in love now with all of her content! And last, but certainly not least, is Alice – I genuinely have no words to describe how amazing both she and her blog are, and how friendly she has been in the last few months, and how much I really want to meet her in 2018..
I’m aware just how rambly and all over the place this post is, but I am in such a happy place with my blog at the moment – I’ve said it before, but I am genuinely so thankful for all the support that I’ve had throughout 2017..
Where do you hope to be in half a year? What are your blog goals for 2018?
