Glossier, with their perfect packaging and cute stickers and iconic, pink zip-lock bag. I have been dying to try their products ever since the blogging world was flooded with reviews when the brand finally became available in the UK. And when James and I agreed to gift each other something that we both really wanted – he went for aftershave, because he obviously needed another bottle to add to his ever-growing collection – I just knew that I had to get my hands on Phase 1..
I’m sure you’ve read a million and one ‘first impressions’ posts by now, but I found there were certain ‘things’ that I hadn’t read before, that needed to be mentioned. Phase 1 contains their Milky Jelly Cleanser, their Priming Moisturiser, and Balm Dot Com in a choice of flavours, for which I opted for the irresistible Birthday Balm! As I said, I personally had read so many reviews and heard huge names, like Zoella, mentioning how incredible their products were, and I thought that this set would be the perfect starting point.
The Milky Jelly Cleanser has literally been everywhere, mentioned by everyone, and really has become a cult classic since it was released. Yet, the first thing I noticed, which no one else had mentioned, was the smell?! I don’t know whether I am super sensitive, but I found the smell a really big shock to begin with – a sort of, chemically smell that I haven’t really found anywhere else – but with each use, I became more and more used to it. I was also expecting it to be a little more of a thin consistency, but found it to be super thick, which was very different to any other cleanser that I’ve used. That being said, I have found that my skin is more clear since beginning to use it, and I am so, so soft! I’m excited to continue using this, and hope that my thoughts on the smell and consistency eventually go away..
I am currently still very, very undecided about the Priming Moisturiser! If I am being entirely honest, I haven’t noticed a huge difference between this and wearing my normal Simple Rich Moisturiser. I do find it very moisturising, and a little goes a long way, which I always love about products, but I haven’t noticed a priming effect at all. I have only worn a ‘full face’ of makeup having used it once though, and I hadn’t used the Milky Jelly Cleanser beforehand, hence why I am still very undecided. I just want it to work for me, because I’m still yet to find a ‘good’ primer, so if anyone has any recommendations on how to make this work better for me, I would love to hear them?!
Balm Dot Com. I am honestly obsessed. I’m normally not a ‘balm’ girl – I’m generally quite lucky to have soft lips, but the colder months take their toll on everyone – but I am lusting after the entire collection now! The texture is slightly thicker than some other balms, but it’s really nourishing and doesn’t feel too thick on the lips once applied. The taste and smell though, is absolutely incredible – it’s super sweet, and smells so good. I actually think I could just sit and lick my lips once I’ve applied it, in the least strange way possible?! I officially understand why everyone went on, and on, and on, about just how incredible this is, because it will definitely be my holy grail lip product from here on out..
I am definitely on the fence, I’m just so undecided about it all. One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to improve my skincare routine because prior to this, it’s been non-existent, and I am determined to ensure that my skin stays as soft and blemish-free as it has been recently, for as long as is physically possible, but I just can’t make up my mind about Glossier. I plan on continuing to use all three products, regardless of my current thoughts on them, and I may do an update if my thoughts change – I am still very tempted to try out more of their range, as just because a product doesn’t work for me, doesn’t mean that I won’t love the rest of their range. It’s good to be brutully honest..
Have you tried Glossier? What were your thoughts, and what would you recommend?
