As this year comes to a close – even if it is a little scary to say that aloud – I wanted to pat myself on the back a little for sticking to my New Year’s Resolution of looking after my skin more than I ever had. In the last eleven months, I’ve fallen in love with a vast number of products that I previously hadn’t tried, whilst discovering just as many that didn’t work for me or my skin for whatever reason, and I’ve finally begun to realise the importance of investing in skincare that’s good quality. I’ve written more posts this past year about skincare than I ever thought possible – that being said, there are a few cult skincare favourites I’ve recently got my hands on that I couldn’t wait to write about..
If you could describe your perfect eyeshadow palette, how would you describe it? The first things that come to mind for me are super-pigmented but blendable mattes, creamy and gorgeous shimmers, wearable everyday shades alongside pops of colour for those special occasions, all for an affordable price – which is exactly how I would describe The Saharan by Juvia’s Place. Having been spotted across Youtube, Instagram and Twitter, used by the likes of NikkieTutorials and Kathleen Lights, Juvia’s Place is the brand that broke the internet and one that I couldn’t wait to try myself..
We all know that I’m a full coverage queen. Would you ever want to wear a foundation for twenty-four hours straight? Probably not. Do I love the idea of my foundation looking flawless and incredible for such a long period of time? Obviously, without a doubt! After watching NikkieTutorials’ video of her wearing the Becca 24 Hour Ultimate Coverage Foundation for an entire day, I instantly knew I needed to test the foundation out myself. She, like me, opts for a matte finish to her foundation and while I’m sure her hella expensive primer helped her to look as flawless as she did after such a long period of time, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it..
Historically and in all honesty, my skin has never been amazing, and I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir in regards to skincare anyway. I’d always put my awful skin – read spotty, oily, uneven mess of a face – down to teenage hormones and puberty, before I realised that I’ve never been ‘the best’ at sticking to a skincare routine long enough for it to actually make any difference. Note to self – a face mask once every three weeks does not constitute a routine and will not fix all of your skincare woes, but my lesson has now well and truly been learnt. At the beginning of the year, I made it my New Year’s Resolution to create a skincare routine and ensure I implemented it every night, and along the way, I’ve discovered some great products that have made my skincare struggles almost nonexistent..
I feel like I haven’t written a ‘first impressions’ post in about a million years, but I actually earned some money this month, hallelujah, and decided to treat myself! Having been unemployed and ridiculously poor for the last few months, I’ve picked up very few new makeup pieces in that time because, priorities – so justifiably, I picked up a few more than I probably should have when payday finally came around, including some new in high-end pieces that I’ve been dying to try..
